Product Description
Bag offer: Ideal for the advanced player looking for a heavier frame with a thin beam. The Head YouTek IG Speed Pro provides excellent touch for exceptional feel. The YouTek series of racquets combines superior technologies to perfectly match your individual needs. Whether your game is aggressive and adventurous or consistent and smooth Head believes that the YouTek range will enhance your performance and bring out the best in you. d3o is a futuristic new material which belongs to the "smart materials" category. Head have placed this new material in the shaft of the racquet. This material can change its behaviour under different conditions. This translates on the tennis court with the d3o allowing the racquet to adapt to the needs of you - the player. On your high impact (or aggressive) shots the smart molecules will lock together within nanoseconds and dramatically increase the stiffness of the whole racquet frame and therefore providing maximum power. On your slower speed impact shots like a slice or drop shot the d3o molecules will absorb the impact therefore providing a softer touch for better feel. This means passing shots will be even harder and drop shots will be more precise! The YouTek racquets also feature Head's Teflon grommet system which reduces friction. This holds back the movement of the string by creating a self-lubricating effect in the base material, allowing the strings to slide throught the grommets with nearly no friction. This means the energy loss is minimal. Click here to watch a shot from Novak with the speed pro: www.youtube.com/watch

Targeted Players:
Quality
17-18 Year Olds – Advanced
Adults – Advanced
The Head YouTek IG Speed Pro racquet is best suited to those players that like their racquet heavy and have no problem creating power on their strokes. It is best suited for those players that are playing the top level of junior competition for their state and country, and are physically fully developed and have a regular gym program to maintain their muscle strength. It is also suited for those adults who are playing the highest sections of pennant in their state and regularly playing tournaments around the state and country. It is also suited to those players who are playing more than 4 times a week, as is an advanced adult racquet, and it takes regular use to get the most out of this racquet.
With a 98 sq in head size, the Speed Pro offers a medium size sweet spot allowing for more consistent shots and a controlled, responsive feel. The 16/19 sting pattern makes topspin easier to generate, but due to the weight of the racquet, you have to swing very fast to get the spin. The racquet is very difficult to maneuver but if you can create the racquet head speed, it feels absolutely brilliant! If you have are or elbow problems, this is not the racquet for you. Finally the beam thickness makes this racquet quite a stiff racquet, allowing more powerful shots to be played, but again only if you can create the racquet head speed to generate this power in the first place.
I would encourage all players over 17 and have physically stopped growing and are very strong to have a hit with this racquet. You do have to be playing regularly, and you have to be very good to play with this racquet. If you can handle the weight of the racquet, it feels great. If you can’t consistently swing the racquet fast all the time, or have shoulder or arm problems, then try the lighter version of this racquet.
Those players looking at playing tennis at a state grade level, or on the Futures and Australian Money Tournaments circuit, will find this racquet just about the right weight for them. The thin beam will take a bit of getting used to, but it is definitely worth a try if you are looking and getting a stable and heavier racquet.

Although this stick in the new Speed IG line is not carried by many NA stores, I had the opportunity to demo it for 2 weeks. Coming from Kpro 88 and BLX tour 90, I am looking for a player's racket that is easier on the arm than Kpro 88 staff, but better feel than the dampened, muddy feel of the BLX tour 90. I have demoed the previous version of this speed pro thought it was sluggish and lackluster when racket made impact and had mixed feeling about the technology of YT. This time around, I had a much longer playtest, I could sense the YT working depending on the variation of the speed of the swing, and the Innegra was very good on the arm. The spec is up the alley of the BLX tour and Kpro 88. The feel was tremendous even though it was strung with Sonic Pro. (Posted on 18/05/11)

Not only does this racquet play like a dream, it looks amazing. So solid on returns, ground strokes and serves. It also has nice feel at the net, I guess because of the d3o. I'd give it 6 out of 5 stars if I could, best racquet I've ever used. (Posted on 18/04/11)
