Yet again, I was dissapointed with the Black Magic. Was a poor back end of it's life in feel and I cut it out. Still in the crosses though with a PSGD main in my npro open, liking that. Still haven't used much of the red code in a KPro Open and my BLXPro Open has Black Code mains and last night I played probably the most challenging singles match for either me or my opponent. He won 6-3, served well but was really tired and not used to the intensity of adult tennis, since I have only ever played a handful of guys over 18 or so. Was great tennis though thoroughly enjoyed it.

The black code will get a big workout on saturday and probably so will the red code, playing two comps, 6 sets (4 doubles 2 singles) from 8-12 then 1-4. Should be sick.

Pretty much loving the black Code. Sawing through the multifeel fairly quick though will break when I play my last set.

Okay, time to make an organised post of all my reviews and stuff

General Syn Guts Reviews
General Polys + Genesis Black Magic
Follow Up With Black Magic
Genesis Spin X (Stringing)
Spin X
Follow up with Spin X
Spinfire Ignition
Tecnifiber X-One BiPhase

So I feel like I've missed a fair few strings I've tried so here comes a big post I think, I'll go over all the strings I tried in the previous list in short detail first.

Black Magic - Great control, dies after a few hours. Some would call that break in but to be it felt really dead both in a full job (KPro Open @ 57) and with PSGD cross (BLXPro Open @ 50/54) with a PSGD main (NPro Open @ 54/50)

Spin X - Awesome string, would consider it again and reccomended to a customer who was using cyber blue. Lasted a while and was very pleased.

Spinfire Ignition - Was a good string, up there with Spin X, maybe a bit more pop would have been nice but was probably one of the best allround polys I've used. Can see why TWA does a good deal on these at their shop for stringing.

Tecnifiber X-1 BiPhase - First full multi job, too much power and comfort to me. To go from a full poly to a full multi is like playing a whole new sport. I got more spin that I would a syn gut but multi full jobs just aren't for me... It's still in my racquet, only had about 4 hours playing with it... Want to give it another rip and for the price you'd want to give it more than 4 hours work.

Shortish reviews for all other strings:

Big Ace: Good control with a good mix of power and touch when needed. Worked well with my all court game, another string I'd give another rip. Infact soon I will hopefully get some Big Ace Micro in a month or so to try get a few extra percent of rip off the ball

MSV Hepta Twise: Got this as a blind string test (8) as a "Black shaped and twisted monofilament". Was quite clearly a 7 sided and twisted black poly which looked amazing. It played just like that, is my favourite string tryed so far and any company in Aus that gets this would be my first choice from then on. Unfortunately it's looked at as a cheap poly which is too much like Pro Supex or Spinfire... It's more, it gives the power you want from a poly, the spin you expect from a twisted+shaped string and the control needed to keep that power in the court,,, with a bit of help from the spin.

Topspin Cyberflash : Great control and power in this string. Allowed me to hit hard out, and was used in my final of a tournement I came runner up in... I was going for everything and it all came off. My opponent was a lot better than me and we both knew that but I still gave it a crack and almost got him to a 3rd and deciding set. This string was a bit stiff though, my arm throbbed to the bs after this match, and to ice it and play 3 sets of doubles after it meant I spent the fortnight around christmas with a brace even to walk around home it was so sore. Maybe stringing a bit lower than 57 with a soft cross and I'll give it another go... I did have TE prior to it so it wasn't really that much of the strings fault.

Babolat Pro Hurricane Tour: For a string that's one of the most sold and used by the Babolat sponsored players... I have to ask why? It's not special. I felt no extra power, infact it was overly controlled for my liking, often hitting balls well inside the service line and it wasn't because of spin, I felt I had next to no spin. Was quite dissapointed with this string, and keep reccomending my mates who liked their factory setups with their PDC and APDC's to try something new but they just don't. I won't be using this crap again anytime soon.

SuperString Nikita Soft: What rubbish that was. Playtest from the same place as the MSV, had some form of rubber to make it a softer string mixed in with it and I'd hope the company realised that this string was useless shortly after the playtests. It felt like I had a sponge in my hand which just didn't let the ball go anywhere. I had no power, yet no touch at the net. The stringbed felt like it pocketed the power, control and feel and didn't let it go... Dissapointment of the year.

Tecnifiber Black Code: Currently in my BLX which I have come to like after some lead tape was added. Originally I had a set that snapped while stringing crosses in a KPro Open so a few months later I bought another set and decided to give it a rip with a softer cross. So I had the BC in my mains at 50lbs, and crosses of Tecnifiber Multifeel @ 54lbs. It felt pretty good, a lot better than the intital hit of Black Magic with a nylon cross. I felt the ball was getting a bit more bite and I could control it more. There wasn't a great deal of power considering the setup which is the only down side I can put on it. Also, I will try and get a photo later today, the multifeel got abosolutely shredded during wet play on Saturday obviously... Yet they took a fair beating in what I could play last night (back injury) and now they're still alive.

Tecnifiber Red Code: 50lbs mains with 54lbs PSGD cross, not much hitting with this, need to give it more. Felt good, controlled and comfortable. Not overly spinfriendly but could get good topspin on the ball with my semi-western.

Probably missed out a few still..

Got Big Banger ALU Rough, Blue Gear and Head Ultra Tour coming along with 2 sets of Maxim Touch to cross with.

It was one of the big local club's club championships. Courtsportz. Had about 50 entrants in opens and most of them + more played in seconds as well. I had a pretty easy run though.

I get my sets from TWA of course. If it's a string they don't carry then I look elsewhere.

Ahh yeah I guess so. I don't plan on using it again... it broke in my frame, maybe it was me stringing but I reckon I took good care of it. I got one hit out of it and it was too powerful and soft for me. I know I need soft for my elbow but for my game, I like it to be a bit more stiff.

Will hopefully get the Lux, pro supex, etc today but I've torn a muscle in my back or something similar and can't play for probably 2-3 weeks :(

If I'm lucky I'll be able to lightly swing next week some time. So get into playing the week after.

Then I have these strings to string up (Red Code already strung up). After I snap through my Black Code if it isn't dead by the time I get to use it again.

Not going to do an order but don't be surprised to see Cyber Twirl straight after the Red Code. Going to be a lot of spinning happening haha.

Pro Red Code - Proper test/review
Spin X Silver
Pro Supex Blue Gear
Big Banger ALU Rough
Topspin Cyber Red
Topspin Cyber Black
Topspin Cyber Whirl
Topspin Cyber Twirl.

MISTAKE!!!

What I thought was Luxilon Adrenaline was infact MSV Hepta Twist. Wilson sent me an email by mistake which I didn't realise... Infact the string I've been ranting and raving about is MSV Hepta Twist. It's awesome and not that expensive. Also comes in 1.20 gauge in red, white or black. Black looks mean but I'd like to try each.

I can't stand syn gut, multi and natural gut is too expensive for me for the quality stuff so I am going to have to find a way to use polys. If that means using multi or natural gut crosses then so be it.

Hi armsty what gauge of hepta twist did you test?

I think it was 1.25. I've got another set coming as well. Want to give it a go with a multi cross. Got a few more strings to add to the list. Will do that when they arrive and should last me well into the year.

Been a while. I've strung up the Black Code again in my BLX Pro Open, this time with Blindtest 11 in the cross, which is again from stringforum to playtest. It's a multi and it's quite durable, the outside coating is almost like a rubber.

The black code is now my favourite... until I try Hepta twist with a multi cross. I just feel like I can rip the ball and have full control. Bit more power that initially thought as it softened up. Great string.

Also strung up Blue Gear in my NPro Open I matched to my BLX Pro Open (both now 350gms and about 4pts HL) and really wasn't impressed. Blue gear wasn't very nice on my arm and had very average power. My groundstrokes all felt short and mixed with extra spin that gave my opponent time to get there and setup for a good approach. I tried it a second time on fake clay stuff, and it was all the same, if not emphasised. I went back to the black code this morning and ripped it, so much better.

Was dissapointed the Blue gear wasn't the string for me because the price is pretty right.

Not sure what I'm trying next. Probably a topspin string, but depends what I feel like when I string it up. I think it's time I stepped back from a textured poly, almost addicted to it.
