This is Head's new TOUR frame. A totally new development with MicroGel technology for the next generation of players. The perfect combination of weight and balance to provide great performance. With a sharp cosmetic and great playing properties this racquet is sure to be a hit with serious players.

This racquet utilises new technology which is a new space-age material with a stiff and strong carbon composite to provide the most rock-solid feel and unique touch ever achieved in a Head racquet. MicroGEL is a silicon based semi-elastic solid with a honeycomb-like (or porous spounge like) structure – the lowest density of any solid known on this planet.

This new material is not just 1000 times less dense than glass and weighs only about 3g per cubic centimetre, it can support up to 4,000 times its own weight! By dispensing HEAD MicroGEL between the carbon layers, Head created a unique new composite with extraordinary new properties enhancing it's responsive qualities.

Ivan Ljubicic has converted from Babolat to Head and is using the Head Extreme Pro, which is the slightly heavier version of this racquet.

Tennis Warehouse Australia Testing:
When we were given this racquet for testing, we were excited to try it. Firstly, Head haven't offered many players racquets with 16 mains and we were looking forward to generating more spin with the open string pattern. Once we took it out on the court we weren't disappointed. The demo was strung with Head's new string Head Sonic Pro, which may also have helped, needless to say, we found plenty of spin with this racquet.

We found the racquet to be very solid on ground strokes with a little bit more power than a traditional players racquet, due to the extra stiffness and thicker beam. We noted that the thicker beam did tend to catch the extra frame shot from time to time on shots played with heavy top spin or slice. We really enjoyed the extra power and found it easy to put away the short ball without much effort.

Where we really noticed the strength of this racquet was in the serve. The balance just seemed perfect to maximise the power and spin we could get to really get the best from the serve. This is definitely in our top 3 racquets for serving capabilities.

Volley's were excellent and again the extra power made it easy to put them away. Players used to heavier racquets with less power may need to adjust their volley game to let the racquet do a lot of the punch for them, otherwise a few volley's may be overplayed.

Overall, we think this is an exciting development for 2007 and we hope that other manufacturers can continue along this same path offering new and innovative racquets. The 16 x 19 string pattern, solid feel and amazing serve capabilities make this one of the best racquets we've ever tried.
