"No Illusion"

Our play tester Shaun Hardwick, strung Genesis Black Magic 1.23mm in his Liquidmetal Radical at 58 lbs. Here is what he had to say about it: 

Genesis is a relative new-comer on the string market, I wasn’t sure what to expect from the brand. Initial impressions were that it felt very similar to Tecnifibre Black Code while stringing, so I was expecting a fairly comfortable ride once I hit the court.

I was not let down. Black Magic’s most outstanding quality is its feel. Being a monofilament there is plenty of control but I definitely don't rate it as being stiff. The softness was comparable to Signum Pro Poly Plasma… amazing comfort with some nice extra power.

When it came to putting away a short ball I really noticed the power of the string. Too many balls were flying long, not by a more than a metre but I’d recommend stringing 2-3 lbs tighter than normal if you want your regular control level. There was ample spin, the traditional round profile gave spin comparable to Head Sonic Pro. Volleys were nice and off-centre hits were more forgiving than say, the Pro Supex polys.

Overall I rate Genesis Black Magic very well, I’d recommend it to someone who has preferences for a soft co-poly or is looking for a cheaper alternative to Tecnifibre Black Code.
