Product Description
Read the review from the USRSA by clicking here. Black Magic leads the pack among co-polyester strings on the market today. Offering a superb balance of power and control, Black Magic is bound to raise your game to a new level. This string excels when it comes to feel. Most polyester strings today have one major flaw: they have no feel! Black Magic is the answer. Softer than most co-polys, this is a great string for players that are looking for a comfortable poly offering a serious punch. Tension maintenance is excellent. "Our playtest team rated Genesis Black Magic 17’s Spin Potential highly, giving it the fourth highest rating of the 155 strings we’ve playtested to date. Our playtest team loved Black Magic 17’s Resistance to Movement, giving it the ninth highest score to date, along with its Durability (tenth highest score to date), and Control (19th highest score to date). Our playtesters also scored Black Magic 17 well above average in Playability, Power, and Tension Retention. Cumulatively, these scores make Black Magic 17 the fifth best string overall to date". - USRSA Playtest Review

Stringing
This was not the easiest to string, had coil memory that was a bit harsh to work around, so an extra few minutes in slowing the process down to make sure no kinks were put into the string. It wasn't as easy as Cyberblue to string which is my usual setup, in comparison. It seemed to stretch though a lot more than regular polys.
Groundstrokes
Wow. The string was just so soft was so much different to what I imagined it to be after stringing. I have avoided reading too many peoples reviews on this string as to make sure I had only a basic outline of what the string was like. It was soft, it was comfortable, it was amazing. I really enjoyed the feel of the Black Magic. The control was pretty good, not as good as I get with my Cyberblue but still fairly solid and the tension didn't seem to drop too much, which made it very much like Cyberblue, just a bit softer, with a bit less control.
Serves
Felt just like a regular poly, possibly a bit more boom but nothing amazing there, felt good though.
Not many volleys hit with it as I only had a quick hit and was more concentrating on the groundstrokes and my opponent who was a mate who is getting better as we go along and I hit with him for the fun of it.
I will probably go into using this as my main string, possibly as a cross with Cyberblue mains, we shall see. I will buy another set and experiment. (Posted on 6/10/09)
