I've been using Tecnifibre Black Code as my regular string since it came out and if I'm being honest I was attracted to Poly Tour Pro because of the fluoro yellow colour! I also noticed Kirilenko and Berankis were using this string so figured it was worth a try.
Quality
WOW I fell in love instantly. I really enjoy soft polys and this is just about as soft as it gets, probably as soft as Signum Pro Poly Plasma. But feel isn't everything, the unexpected surprise came from the amount of extra spin I was getting with this string! PTP doesn't have the pentagonal/heptagonal profile the spin-promoted strings feature but I (and also my hitting partner) definitely noticed an increased amount of "rip" off the court over my usual Black Code 1.24 string bed.
While on the topic of hitting partners, I think it is equally important to get their opinion of how you're playing with new equipment as it is your own. You feel the weight and response from the racquet/strings but your hitting partner is the one seeing the end result of your shots and has a better perspective of how hard/heavily spun the balls are coming.
Back on topic... Like most polys, tension maintenance isn't the best and drops a little quicker than the Black Code. However a minor issue as strings don't stay in my frames for long, and could be compensated by stringing a little tighter. Overall this string impressed so much that I've switched over, it also comes in a black colour which may attract players not seeking for such a retina-burning colour. (Posted on 7/02/12)
