Luxilon have released the 4G rough tennis string for players who enjoy the durability of 4G but are looking for more spin. With a textured feel similar to ALU rough the 4G rough should provide more bite on the ball and allow you to play with more spin. Tennis Warehouse Australia Review:
Title: Very Grippy
Strung in a Wilson BLX2 Blade 98 (16x19) @ Mains: 50lbs Crosses: 47lbs
String was fairly easy to string with, in comparison to the slighter softer ALU Rough which is textured the exact same way. Initially the string felt more powerful then I was expecting and was surprisingly comfortable to play with very little if any feedback on off center shots.
The texture on the string allows for a lot more grip on to the tennis balls which helped with generating spin from the back of the court. Volleys felt solid but at times seemed to fly off the racquet. Slice and kick serves had more effect due to the texture providing more grip on to the balls.
The one downside I found with the string was that after 4-5 hours of play it started to show some significant notching.
Overall the string plays a lot better than its smooth counterpart, Luxilon 4G, offering more potential for spin, feeling slightly more powerful and much solid on the arm then Luxilon ALU Power Rough.
